How To Dress Casual For Work
As a 21 year old that works in an office I always look for ways to dress casually and stylish yet appropriate for work. I never was the preppy one in a pencil skirt, pumps, a chic blouse and a blazer. And I probably never will be. I would wear a chic blouse but paired with some jeans and loafers and I would also wear a blazer with again jeans and a dressy t-shirt. Thankfully I work in a rather casual work environment that leaves me some freedom with my clothing choices (although we have days we need to dress very businessy too). Over time I came up with some ways to be my young quirky self but still be taken serious as an employee:
A Cool Jacket
Stylish jackets upgrade a boring outfit in no time. I often wear a leather jacket or bomber at work because I find they match with jeans and trousers and since I store them on a hanger in my locker no one sees them except for when I am arriving and leaving.
They are not as much of a no-go as you may think. Paired the right way you can totally get away with wearing them to work.
Pair them with a blouse and blazer and some chic timeless shoes (like brogues, oxfords or ballerina flats) and you should pass. Just be careful with adding more leather or texture as that could easily be over-kill.
You could also wear leather or coated pants with a blazer, booties and a plain sweater.
The T-Shirt Game
A plain t-shirt is not appropriate for work? Wrong. Nowadays it is. Especially in satin silky materials. Minimalist yet chic.
Sneakers
There are so many ways to make sneakers suitable for work - here are some of them:
Loose Fit
Wearing your button down oversized gives your outfit a more airy feel and looks much more chill and relaxed. Also trousers (especially chinos and culottes) often have a roomy fit and can almost feel like joggers.
Pointy Flats
You don't need to wear high-heels to work - pointy flats will elongate your legs too.
Sweaters
In fall and winter stylish sweaters are lifesavers since they will keep you warm without having to sacrifice fashion points for comfort.
I know that not every company will allow their employees to dress on the more casual side. Especially some higher end companies do have strict dresscodes, I realize that. But for those of you who will have no problem dressing a little more chill, I hope you found inspiration in this post.
Have a wonderful day I will talk to you in my next post.
Until then,
You know I love you
Xoxo,
Nadine Samantha
