How to look expensive on a budget

Every fashion enthusiast wants to look high fashion. And do you know what is one of my favourite things about fashion? that having style has nothing to do with being able to afford expensive clothes. I see it all the time: wealthy people on social media that dress poorly despite owning all of those luxury designer pieces.
Here's the truth: you can look and be fashionable WHATEVER the budget.  If you don't know how to dress having clothes that cost a fortune will still make you look only half as good as someone that knows how to look put together, even if their outfit costs less than your shoes alone.
And while I advice to avoid fast fashion as much as possible if you do it right you can still dress classy and fashionable without spending a lot of money.
Here's how:

Neutral Colors

They go with everything fit all skintones hence are very versatile and can be worn over and over again to countless occasions. Accessorizing them up and down is almost bulletproof. Neutral colors are simply the way to go.

Touch it!

Online shopping is slowly taking over and don't get me wrong, I enjoy the ease and convienence of quickly ordering something and having it brought to my door without even leaving the house. It saves a lot of precious time. Sometimes. Because since you run the risk of items not fitting and needing them to return- which on the other hand takes time again. And also if you don't try it on or touch the material you don't know what the fabric feels like on your skin. Most of the time by touching and lightly pulling on fabric you can tell if it is going to last. So whenever you care at a store feel the piece you want to purchase and try it on before committing to it.

Replace worn down pieces

This should be a no-brainer but if your clothes have holes in them, if the color is faded, they are stretched out or shrunken, either toss them or donate them and treasure yourself a new item.

Know how to handle trends

First off: trends are not evil. Some trends come and go and some are here to stay. Didn't the skinny jeans start as a trend? There is most likely a trend for everyone every season that can compliment and upgrade your staple pieces. You can prevent getting bored or tired of your own style and evolve it too.Plus looking at all the trends and trying out the few you like most is so much fun. Just don't go crazy. And when putting together an outfit don't use more than one trend to keep it timeless and classy.

Play with different fabrics

Combining different fabrics can make an outfit not only more interesting it can make it look more expensive.

Let it flow

Drapey items like coats, dresses, cardigans, scarves or capes in general can look so elegant chic and effortlessly styles up the value of your outfit in an affordable way.

Material matter

Don't fall for affordable yet synthetic materials that feel cheap, look cheap and might even cause a reaction on your skin. If those fabrics feels very soft at first trust me they won't for long.  Instead look for natural and quality fibers like cotton, wool, silk, suede, cashmere, lace, velvet or linen. They are also available in blends that tend to be a little more affordable.

Don't overdo the bling bling

You can wear bold jewelry as a statement but if you wear one bold jewelry piece don't put on much more. Delicate dainty jewelry looks very luxurious but remember: "Before you leave the house look in the mirror and remove one accessory." Coco must know, right?

All black everything

The little black dress, a black clutch, black pointy boots or pumps, gold metals - there goes the majesty. Even if you love bright colors you can't deny the sleek timeless and powerful elegance of an all black outfit. Your fashion game is unbeatable.

Wear a fresh fragrance

All Marilyn Monroe wore to bed was Chanel No. 5. How minimal yet luxurious. But truth be told a signature fragrance can work as a magnet and be of priceless value.

Simply keep it classy

No suprise but clean lines and cuts just as classic shapes and prints will always look more expensive than distressed denim, an oversized hoodie and sneakers.
